Iowa WORKS….Great Resource for Students and Parents

Iowa WORKS Spencer Iowa office has added a new Disability Resource Coordinator-Amber Nelson!  We are excited to be working with Amber and providing her name and services to our students and families as they complete their high school career.  Services through the Disability Initiative Projectare available throughout the Northwest Iowa area.  Counties served under this project are Lyon, Osceloa, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Sioux, O’Brien, Clay, Palo Alto, and Buena Vista.  Services available through Iowa WORKS  are Job Search Assistance which is a short term service which allows jobseekers to get a head start with their employment search.  Services in this program include: resume development, job lead assistance, computer job search, and online application tutoring, Ticket to Work Information, and access to helpful workshops and more.  This program also offers a link to community resources by providing valuable information on area programs that may be helpful to each jobseeker.  You can learn about career planning, tuition assistance, Schedule A hiring, employability workshops, online services, benefit assistance, housing and transportation information plus much more!  We are also super excited to note that Amber Nelson is a able to help you with your Benefits Planning-which is getting help with working and receiving Social Security.  Social Security allows people to try work and keep some or all of their benefits….find out more by contacting Amber!  To Learn More or to Set Up an Appointment contact Amber at712-262-7662 ext. #153.
