Agenda for Student-led IEP

The Agenda for Student Led IEP Meetings is a template that can be used as a guide to help students share input during their IEP meeting.  It is very important to begin this process early, so students understand that they are a vital part of their IEP team.  Students who participate in their meetings tend to be more engaged since they are allowed to have a voice.  This is a great way to help them learn how to advocate for themselves.

For middle school students, you can begin by simply picking just a few items on the agenda template, and having students only share those during the meeting.  Then, the students can add additional items each year.

It will take a little time to coach them on what information goes where, but it will be time well spent.  You will be pleasantly surprised at how engaged the student will be at the IEP meeting!
