We had a wonderful opportunity to attend an Employment & Disability Forum in Ames last month, where two national presenters shared their expertise.
Denise Bissonnette, author of Beyond Traditional Job Development, and Richard Pimentel, author of Working with People with Disabilities in a Job Placement/Job Retention Environment, shared their expertise with us for two action-packed days. They were PHENOMENAL!! First, let’s learn more about Mr. Pimentel…
Richard Pimentel is practically the father of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as, the newly reauthorized version of it. More on that later…. His story – – which was literally made into a movie!!- – is a testimony that one person CAN make a difference.
IMDb states, “The movie is a true story of Richard Pimentel, a brilliant public speaker with a troubled past, who returns from Vietnam severely hearing-impaired and finds a new purpose in his landmark efforts on the behalf of Americans with disabilities.”
For right now, to peak your curiosity, watch the short movie trailer to get a glimpse on why he is passionate about helping people with varying “abilities!”
Check it out at The Music Within and click on WATCH TRAILER at the bottom. It’s a real life lesson that we can all learn from!
More conference details coming soon!
PS Google Chicago’s “ugly law” in the 1970’s!… seriously????
